I share my love of reading with my two daughters and my granddaughter. One daughter loves romance, the other loves mystery and my granddaughter, twenty-one, reads a variety of books. Reviewing books has introduced me to many authors that are new to me. When I read a book to review and enjoy it I usually try to obtain other books by that author. I work part-time and my main interest is reading. A Journey To Die For

Carrie McBride and Henry King are senior citizens but not your ordinary senior citizens. Carrie and Henry are newlyweds. The two have shared some adventures investigating mysteries. Their home is in Blackberry Hollow, Arkansas. Henry is a retired police officer who served on the Kansas City police force for a number of years.
On the eighth month anniversary of their wedding Henry decided to treat Carrie to a daytime ride on an antique train bound for Van Buren, Arkansas. Carrie and Henry were both excited about the great time they would have in Van Buren touring the shops and learning a bit about the history surrounding Van Buren. The train ride is interesting but Carrie found a couple of the passengers even more interesting. Chuck Dovish of the TV show “Exploring Arkansas” is on the train filming for his show but it is not Dovish that captures Carrie’s interest. The two men sitting in the seat in front of Carrie and Henry are acting very strangely in Carrie’s opinion. Carrie soon forgets the two men on the train as the couple enjoys sightseeing in Van Bruen but the trip suddenly turns ugly when Carrie finds a dead body.
The Van Buren police soon realize that Carrie and Henry can be a big help to them in their investigation. Henry with his police background and Carrie with her curiosity have picked up clues that otherwise might have been missed.
After returning home and talking to their friends Roger and Shirley Booth, they decide to make another trip to Van Buren. Shirley has some odd buttons that her Granddad brought back from the war and they appeared to be almost the same as a bag of buttons found in the pocket of the dead man found by the river. There are rumors that the remains of an old ship are in the water off the area where the body was found.
The couple decides to carry their investigation even further. Henry suggests a trip to Kansas City to visit the museum there. Henry tells Carrie that he feels the museum will offer a lot of information regarding travel on the Arkansas River. The trip will also give the couple a chance to meet with the Kansas City police and acquire more information about the Van Buren/Kansas City connection. The trip to Kansas City trip turns into a real awakening for Carrie regarding Henry’s duties as a police officer. The trip also puts both Carrie and Henry in danger.
This latest adventure in Radine Trees Nehring’s To Die For series lifts Carrie and Henry a bit above the term “amateur detectives”. The pair cooperating with the police in both Van Buren and Kansas City helps bring a conclusion to the murder as well as shutting down a robbery ring acting out of Kansas City.
