Imagine waking up one morning and finding out that the unthinkable had finally happened: an American city has been hit with a nuclear detonation of unimaginable magnitude and an ultimatum issued: begin the removal of  all military personnel within one week from the Middle East and break off all ties with Israel or the remaining 3 nuclear bombs placed in other major American cities will be detonated. In Day of Vindication, the President orders all available resources to spare no expense in finding the remaining bombs. The FBI gets a break when a Cuban National comes forward with information on the terrorists responsible for this act of terror but there may not be time to find the bombs by the deadline. Will the President capitulate to the terrorists or will he stand his ground and risk American lives?

Day of Vindication by James Rupe is a rendition of the one nightmare Americans hope will never become a reality. Rupe has written an all too real novel about what could happen if America isn’t always vigilant. For much of the 20th century and so far into the 21st century, America has always been the one force countries could depend on to help them out in the interest of democracy. This novel is about the ultimate price we may pay for trying to be the savior of the world, even to those who don’t want to be saved. I actually shuddered when I read this because America really is vulnerable, more so than most of us want to admit. I can heartily recommend this book with a rating of 5 stars.
