I share my love of reading with my two daughters and my granddaughter. One daughter loves romance, the other loves mystery and my granddaughter, twenty-one, reads a variety of books. Reviewing books has introduced me to many authors that are new to me. When I read a book to review and enjoy it I usually try to obtain other books by that author. I work part-time and my main interest is reading.

The Surest Poison introduces the readers to two new exciting characters of varied backgrounds.
Sid Chance is somewhat of a loner. He has a rustic cabin in a rural area outside of Nashville where he spent a lot of time. Now he has put the hermit life behind him awhile and headed back to civilization and Sidney Chance Investigations. Jaz LeMieux has been encouraging Sid to get back into the mainstream. She has been lending him a little help with his investigations.
Jaz has given Sid’s name to Arnie Bailey, an attorney. Arnie has a client who desperately needs some help. Arnie’s client is the owner of a business that is currently under attack. It seems that there is an area in the back of his business where TCE has been dumped. TCE is a nonflammable, colorless liquid with a somewhat sweet odor and a sweet, burning taste. The description sounds pretty tame doesn’t it? This harmless sounding liquid can cause horrible disfigurement and even death. The TCE has made its way into the water supply and the result has been horrible.
Sid must find the former owner of the business and prove that the previous owner dumped the TCE. Easier said than done. Sid runs into a dead-end at every turn. The previous owner does not want to be found.
Jaz has her own business she inherited from her father as well as a beautiful home. Since this doesn’t keep her busy enough she decided that she wants to become a private investigator. She has been lending a hand to Sid but gets sidetracked by a personal problem. Her housekeeper’s grandson is in trouble and won’t tell anyone what or who has threatened him.
Sid and Jaz work together to tackle both problems but they are working against the clock on both matters. A hearing is scheduled on the TCE matter and Liz’s housekeeper’s grandson is determined to take his family and run away.
Chester D. Campbell has created two new characters with a
lot to interest the reader. I hope this is just an introduction to a new
series. If so, I can’t wait for the
next book.
