The Ovary Wars by Mike Hogan

A very different take on population control.

Frame Shifting

Banner shares his path of spiritual awakening. Having been a management consultant, you would think he would be stoic, rigid, “business like”… but I found his writing to be truly that of a free spirit. He takes you on his journey, sharing the higher teachings he received along the way. This book is filled with quotes and passages from other healers and teachers. That was one of the best parts of this book. It is refreshing to be so close to the wide words of other spiritual giants. His reference to “frame shifting” seems to me to be his his journey to self actualization…the never ending process.

A feel good read! The articles pertain to personal struggles …accepted, dealt with, and overcome.

Murder in Winnebago County

Someone is killing public officials in Winnebago County and making them look like suicides.

Eli Rill has written a very tight historical fiction, recounting the life of Norman Schecter from the Great Depression through 911 and beyond. Norman is a 2nd generation immigrant Jew, with very liberal and very union concepts. He is an activist with a peacemaker's heart. This tale travels back and forth through Norman's life and produces a very fine read for many types of readers.

The need for "educational reform" has once again returned to our national discourse--especially in light of the Federal Education Department's current "Race to the Top" initiative. However, despite many years of federal, state and local legislative mandates and school reform initiatives, remarkably few substantive changes have occurred within the standard public school classroom. Classes of 25 students, seated at desks, in rows, in rooms that are often too small, under the direction of an individual teacher contine to be the norm. The time for an honest re-examination of failed "outside-in/top down" educational reform policies is beyond urgent. Hank Warren is passionate about the "calling" of teaching. "It Simply Must Be Said" focuses on the issues facing education from the perspictive of an active public school teacher via a collection of observations, experiences, stories, and recommendations from 34 years in teaching. Throughout the book Hank addresses serious concerns with humor and relevant tales of actual events.
